Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery to be named Skydance after $110B merger closes October 6

Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison announced Friday (October 2) that the combined company will be called Skydance once the merger with Warner Bros. Discovery closes. The roughly $110 billion deal is expected to close on October 6, when the legal name changes to Skydance Corporation and the company's Class B shares move from Nasdaq to the New York Stock Exchange, changing ticker from PSKY to SKYD. The merger unites Paramount+, HBO Max, CBS, CNN and other networks, and brings franchises including "The Lord of the Rings," "Game of Thrones" and the DC Universe under one roof; earlier this week a federal judge approved the settlement with a 12-state coalition that had sought to block the deal, clearing the final hurdle.
